In response to the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Services staffing crisis that directly affects the residents of Mount Rainier, Councilmember Carter joined other elected officials in making statements to the County Council.
As a former Prince George's County EMS volunteer, Councilmember Carter has the unique opportunity to understand the staffing crisis from a personal standpoint.
She saw this crisis coming over a decade ago and cautioned many she knew in fire services that the county should consider hiring single role responders or, "EMS Only" providers. With 80% of the county's calls for service being medical in nature, this concept is not only one that will help extend the current staffing force, but a solution that will help answer the calls for service that the residents of Prince George's County, and more importantly the residents of Mount Rainier make.
